Trapped Key Interlocks with Single Key (Die-Cast)

Access control in Trapped Key refers to a method for controlling access to hazardous areas of machines and equipment. It involves granting users the ability to gain access to the hazardous area, either in full or in part, through the use of access control interlocks. These interlocks are designed to ensure that a guard or door is locked in a closed position under normal operating conditions and can only be operated when a coded key is inserted and turned, thereby enabling access to the machine.

Upon inserting and turning the coded key, the access control interlock will open and allow access to the hazardous area. However, the key will become trapped and cannot be removed until the guard or door is closed, and the key is turned back to its original position. This mechanism effectively prevents unauthorized access to the hazardous area and ensures that safety protocols are strictly adhered to.

The Trapped Key process is widely used in various industrial settings to safeguard workers and prevent accidents. It is a highly effective method for ensuring that safety protocols are strictly adhered to and that access to hazardous areas is only granted to authorized personnel. Furthermore, the process can be customized to suit different requirements, making it a versatile and flexible safety solution.

Product range features:

  • Mirror Polished Die-Cast Body
  • Robust and Reliable in most Environments

External Mount Trapped Key Control Isolation Switch with Tongue Interlock (M-TS-CB)

The M-TS-CB is a trapped key gate access lock with an internal contact block. Turning the key unlocks the actuator and opens the safety contacts. The M-TSR-CB has a ‘key trapped’ during normal operation and becomes 'free' when the guard is open. The M-TS-CB has a ‘key free’ during normal operation and becomes 'trapped' when the guard is open.
  • Body Material: Mirror Polished Die-Cast Metal
  • Ingress Protection: IP67
  • Contacts: 2NC + 2NO, 3NC + 1NO or 4NC Monitoring Contact Blocks
  • Connection: 3 x M20 or ½” NPT Conduits
NOTE: Key and actuator sold separately.

Trapped Key Bolt Interlock with Single Key (M-BS)

The M-BS Trapped Key Interlock operates by using a locking bolt mechanism, which is extended when the key is removed. Inserting and turning the appropriate key retracts the bolt, allowing access to the hazardous area.

  • Material: Mirror Polished Die-Cast Metal
  • Holding Force: F1Max 5000N

Note: It is important that when the bolt is retracted, it is held captive until the guard is closed. If you can extend the bolt whilst the guard is open, you are at risk of serious harm. Key sold separately.

Trapped Key Spring Handle Interlock with Single Key (M-HS)

The M-HS Trapped Key Interlock operates by using a spring loaded handle lock mechanism, which is inserted and locked when the key is removed. Inserting and turning the appropriate key unlocks the handle, allowing access to the hazardous area.

  • Material: Mirror Polished Die-Cast Metal
  • Holding Force: F1Max 4000N

Note: Key sold separately.

Trapped Key Spring Handle Interlock with Single Key (M-HT)

The M-HT Trapped Key Interlock is a safety mechanism that operates using a spring-loaded handle lock mechanism. This locking mechanism is activated when the key is removed, securing the hazardous area. Access to the hazardous area is granted by inserting and turning the appropriate key to unlock the handle.
To ensure long-term reliability, there is an anti-tamper cam system built into the M-HT interlock. This feature prevents unauthorized access and provides additional security to the interlock system. The M-HT interlock is an essential component for ensuring the safety of workers in hazardous environments.
  • Material: Die-Cast Metal
  • Holding Force:F1Max 3000N
  • Key Included: No
Note: The head can be rotated in 4 directions for full flexibility when mounting.

Trapped Key Spring Handle Interlock with Single Key and Chain (M-HS-C)

The M-HS Trapped Key Interlock operates by using a spring loaded handle lock mechanism, which is inserted and locked when the key is removed. Inserting and turning the appropriate key unlocks the handle which is connected to a chain, allowing access to the hazardous area.

  • Material: Mirror Polished Die-Cast Metal
  • Holding Force: F1Max 4000N

Note: Key sold separately.

Trapped Key Spring Handle Interlock with Single Key and Contact Block (M-HT-CB)

The M-HT-CB is a trapped key gate access lock with an internal contact block for monitoring the status of the switch. Turning the key unlocks the actuator and opens safety contacts, sending a signal to the monitoring circuit. The M-HTR-CB has a ‘key trapped’ during normal operation and becomes 'free' when the guard is open. The M-HT-CB has a ‘key free’ during normal operation and becomes 'trapped' when the guard is open.
  • Body Material: Mirror Polished Die-Cast Metal
  • Ingress Protection: IP67
  • Contacts: 2NC + 2NO, 3NC + 1NO Monitoring Contact Blocks
  • Connection: 3 x M20 or ½” NPT Conduits
NOTE: Key sold separately.

Trapped Key Tongue Interlock with Single Key (M-TS)

The M-TS Trapped Key Interlock operates by using a tongue locking mechanism, which is inserted and locked when the key is removed. Inserting and turning the appropriate key unlocks the tongue, allowing access to the hazardous area.
