Trapped Key Interlocks with Dual Key (Stainless Steel)

Access control is the final stage of the Trapped Key process. It grants the user the ability to gain access to the hazardous area, either full body or part body. Access control interlocks are used to ensure that a guard or door is locked closed under normal operating conditions and can only be operated when a coded key is inserted and turned, enabling access to the machine.

When the key is inserted and turned, the interlock will open and the key will be trapped. The key cannot be removed until the guard is closed, and the key is turned back to the original position. The second key (often referred to as the personnel key) should be taken inside the hazardous area to reduce the likelihood of an inadvertent start-up. Only when the second key is returned, will the first key be released.

IDEM’s Trapped Key access locks in 316 grade stainless steel are suitable for high pressure hosing with detergent at high temperatures. The IP69K rating and the 100% mechanical operation makes them the perfect choice for applications in food, beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Trapped Key Bolt Interlock with Dual Key (SS-BD-11)

The SS-BD-11 Trapped Key Interlock operates by using a locking bolt mechanism, which is extended when in the lock position. Inserting and turning the appropriate key allows the secondary key to be released, retracting the bolt and allowing access to the hazardous area. The second key (often referred to as the personnel key) should be taken inside the hazardous area to reduce the likelihood of an inadvertent start-up.

  • Material: 316 Grade Stainless Steel
  • Holding Force: F1Max 5000N
  • Ingress Protection: IP69K
  • Keys sold separately

Note: It is important that when the bolt is retracted, it is held captive until the guard is closed. If you can extend the bolt whilst the guard is open, you are at risk of serious harm.
