Safety Rope Pull Cord Switches for Hazardous Areas (Die Cast)
We developed and rigorously tested our comprehensive range of Safety Rope Switches specifically for use in explosive atmospheres. Each device incorporates an internal contact block that IECEx certified according to the latest ATEX regulations and international guidelines.
In electrical and safety engineering, “hazardous locations” refers to areas where combustible or flammable materials create a risk of fire or explosion. Such environments commonly feature gases, vapours, dust, and fibres that can ignite and spread rapidly under the right conditions. Equipment intended for these settings must meet stringent standards, ensuring that neither its operation nor its failure triggers an ignition source, and that it withstands the challenges of demanding industrial processes.
When an operator pulls the rope, the safety rope switch initiates a fail-safe response. This action positively opens the safety contacts, ensuring that connected machinery or systems immediately lose power, while the auxiliary contacts close to indicate the action taken. The switch stays mechanically latched in its tripped position until the operator deliberately presses the blue reset button. ISO 13850 mandates this procedure, guaranteeing that machinery cannot restart accidentally and that only a conscious, authorized action restores normal operation.
Our safety rope pull switches fully conform to ISO 13850 and IEC 60947-5-5 standards and maintain a positive mechanical linkage between the switch contacts and the wire rope, ensuring that any rope movement directly influences the switch mechanism. In addition, integrated wire breakage monitoring provides immediate alerts if the rope sustains damage or becomes severed, preventing hidden failures and enhancing overall plant safety.
