Safety Rope Pull Cord Switches for Explosive Environments (Stainless Steel)
In electrical and safety engineering, hazardous locations are places where fire or explosion hazards may exist. Sources of such hazards include gases, vapours, dust and fibres which are combustible or flammable.
IDEM’s range of Safety Rope Switches have been developed to operate in explosive environments. The internal contact block has been third party approved by IECEx to the latest ATEX standards.
On pulling the rope, the safety contacts are positively opened, and the auxiliary contacts are closed. The safety rope switches are mechanically latched and can then only be returned to the operational condition by pressing the blue reset button as required by ISO 13850.
All IDEM safety rope pull switches conform to ISO 13850 and IEC 60947-5-5 and have a positive mechanical linkage between the switch contacts and the wire rope. The rope pull switches have wire breakage monitoring.
For harsh environments like Food Processing, Pharmaceutical and Petro-Chemical Industries, the stainless steel 316 range offers protection up to IP69K for use in high pressure chemical cleaning or CIP/SIP applications. The IP69K enclosure protection (maintained by a double seal lid gasket) and can be high pressure hosed with detergent up to +60C and 100psi.

Guardian Line Explosion Proof Rope Pull Safety Switch (GLHL-SS-EX)
The GLHL-SS-EX heavy duty safety rope pull switch has been designed to protect long conveyor lengths, where protection is required up to 125m (using 2 switches) or up to 100m (using 1 switch). The GLHL-SS-EX can be used on its own or in combination with the GLHD-SS-EX to connect up to 125m rope span from the left side.

The GLS-SS-EX standard duty safety rope pull switch has been designed to protect medium to long conveyor lengths, where protection is required up to 100m (using 2 switches) or up to 80m (using 1 switch). The stainless steel 316 body can survive chemical and detergent washdowns, suitable for outdoor use in both hot and cold climates.

Guardian Line Explosion Proof Rope Pull Safety Switch with Dual Head (GLHD-SS-EX)
The GLHD-SS-EX heavy duty safety rope pull switch has been designed to protect long conveyor lengths. The dual head is capable of protecting up to 250m and shorter rope spans up to 200m can be achieved using a single switch. This makes for a cost-effective solution, as it reduces electrical wiring runs and the total number of switches required.
