Emergency Stop Button Stations for Hazardous Areas (Stainless Steel)

In electrical and safety engineering, hazardous locations are areas where fire or explosion risks arise from combustible or flammable gases, vapours, dust, or fibres.

IDEM’s range of Emergency Stop Stations are specifically designed for use in environments where combustible or flammable materials creates a risk of fire or explosion. Each device features an internal contact block approved by IECEx to the latest ATEX standards, ensuring compliance with international safety regulations.

Emergency stop switches protect machines and conveyor systems that lack full physical guarding. When paired with dual-channel safety monitoring controllers, these devices provide reliable emergency stop functionality, achieving monitoring up to CAT4/PLe in accordance with ISO 13849-1.

IDEM emergency stop switches include a safety trip lid mechanism, which ensures the safety contacts open if the lid is removed from the switch body. This added layer of protection enhances operational safety. The switches meet European Standards EN ISO 13850 and IEC 60947-5-5. A positive mechanical linkage connects the switch contacts and the emergency stop button. Once activated, the switches latch mechanically and require pressing the reset button to return to normal operation, as specified by EN ISO 13850.

For demanding environments like Food Processing, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries, IDEM offers emergency stop switches made from stainless steel 316. These devices provide IP69K-rated protection, maintained by a double-seal lid gasket. They resist high-pressure chemical cleaning or CIP/SIP processes and handle hosing with detergent at temperatures up to +60°C and pressures of 100 psi.
