Magnetic Guard Locking RFID Safety Switches

The MGL Range comprises RFID-coded electromagnetic guard locking safety switches designed to provide robust guard interlocking and high-integrity position monitoring in industrial machinery applications. By combining non-contact RFID coded sensing with power-to-lock magnetic guard locking, the devices ensure that both guard position detection and locking status are satisfied before machine operation can be enabled.

The MGL safety locking switches provide a holding force of up to 1500 N, making them suitable for a wide range of guard sizes, from small access doors through to larger hinged or sliding guards. The actuator and switch arrangement is tolerant to a degree of misalignment, simplifying installation and improving reliability in applications where mechanical variation or guard movement may occur over time.

Following unlocking or loss of power, residual magnetism provides a light retaining force to help keep the guard in position. For applications where fast release or low opening force is preferred, variants without residual magnetic hold are also available, particularly for smaller or lightweight guards.

The MGL Range is designed for straightforward integration with standard safety control systems, including popular safety relays and IDEM’s VIPER SCR series. When correctly integrated into an appropriate safety circuit, the devices can support safety architectures up to PLe, Category 4 in accordance with ISO 13849-1.

Engineered for demanding industrial environments, the MGL Range is available in polyester, die-cast aluminium, and 316 stainless steel housings to suit differing mechanical, hygienic, and corrosion-resistance requirements. This makes the range well suited to use across a broad spectrum of industries, including food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical production, chemical processing, packaging machinery, automotive manufacturing, and heavy industrial equipment.
