Light curtains have revolutionised machine and production line accessibility by reducing the need for mechanical guarding. They allow for seamless workflow while ensuring operator safety. However, there are scenarios where it’s essential to lock off the light curtain to prevent machine operation – during maintenance, cleaning, or emergency situations. That’s where our new blocking device comes into play.
The Skorpion LCB Device enables users to safely lock off and prohibit the re-engagement of the light curtain barrier. This ensures that machines remain non-operational when necessary, providing an additional layer of safety. Moreover, it seamlessly integrates into a wider Skorpion trapped key system if desired, offering a comprehensive safety solution tailored to your needs.

Simple and Effective Operation
To Block the Light Curtain and Lock Off the Machine:
- Rotate the Key: Turn the key from the horizontal position 90 degrees and remove it.
- Engage the Blocking Plate: The blocking plate will fully obstruct the light curtain beam or receiver.
- Secure the System: With the key removed, the blocking plate cannot be rotated away, and the machine remains non-operational.
- Additional Security: Use the padlock hasp on the side of the device to add extra padlocks or hasps, further preventing unauthorized disengagement.
To Unblock the Light Curtain and Resume Operation:
- Insert the Key: Place the key back into the device.
- Rotate to Unblock: Turn it 90 degrees from the vertical position to retract the blocking plate.
- Restore Functionality: The light curtain beam or sensor is no longer obstructed, allowing the machine to function normally.
- Optional Lock-Out: You can lock out the device in this position using the padlock hasp at the top (right-handed variant) or bottom (left-handed variant), preventing unauthorized personnel from blocking the light curtain and halting machine operation.
