CS-Range Trapped Key Control Switch and Key Exchange System (Stainless Steel)

The CS-Range combines isolation and key exchange into one convenient, panel mounted system. Every barrel location can either be monitored with or without solenoid release or mechanically operated only, depending on your requirements.

Traditionally, the top key will be monitored, and the remaining keys mechanically released once the first key is free, but in some systems, every key is monitored and/or solenoid controlled. The flexibility of this system means it can meet your most complex requirements.

The ‘reverse’ key version means the control switch is active when the key is not present. Inserting and turning the key closes the outputs, stopping the hazardous process. This is often used when the machine requires an “authority key” to be present before access the machine or, you have multiple isolation methods required before access to the machine is granted.

For systems with more than 10 keys, we recommend using the MX panel arrangement shown below. The MX panel is available with 2, 3 and 5 vertical rows to reduce the length of your system.

Note: Although the parts are ordered separately, the system is factory assembled, ready for use straight out of the box.

A traditional Trapped Key System uses a safe sequence of operations through that transfer of keys that are either trapped or released in a predetermined order. For example, a key is used to isolate a power source, this key is then released and can then be used to gain access through a gate or door to a high risk area by inserting it into an access lock.

The CS-Range works in a similar way but instead of transferring the isolation switch key to a key exchange, it combines the two together. The control switch key can also be used as an access lock key, reducing the total number of keys required.

Step 1: Choose the number of control switches required.

The CS-Range is completely flexible, allowing every barrel position to be monitored with or without solenoid key release (if required). Usually only one is required with the remaining keys released mechanically.

Step 2: Select the number of mechanically released keys.

The SS-KR mechanically released key barrel is fully compatible with the CS-Range. Traditionally, the SS-KR is used to release the access lock keys. For example: If you have 5 access locks, you will need to order x 1 SS-CS or SS-CS-SKR and 4 x SS-KR.

Step 3: Select your mounting arrangement.

The CS-Range is available with panel mount enclosure kits. The number of keys required determines the mounting kit. For example; a 5 key system requires a P-5WAY kit.

If you are restricted on height, the MX panel style separates the keys in to vertical rows. They are available in 8, 12 and 20 way panels. Any unused barrels can sealed using a blanking cap.
